Happy to you!

On September 20, Judd celebrated his 31st birthday! I tried to teach Evie to say happy birthday, but it ended up coming out as, "happy to you or happy daddy!" She also kept asking for a cupcake. Instead, we made birthday brownies!

We went out on a Saturday with some friends to honor Judd getting older. He wanted to eat at Babe's a really popular family style fried chicken joint. It was good.

I bought a Living Social deal for family photos with Jenny Leigh Photography. We had a fun time at Arbor Hill Nature Preserve during our sunset session. It's a really pretty park with lots of pedestrian trails and biking paths.

First French Braid

One night after bath time, I attempted to french braid Evie's hair. Doing her hair is pretty difficult most of the time, considering that she is always moving. This night she was quietly playing with her doll house AND sitting in one place! After doing this I realized how long her hair really is!

What can Evie do now that she's two?

Before time slips away from me, I want to stop time and write a snapshot of what Evie is like lately.

2 Year Stats
35 inches (75th percentile)
25 pounds 8 ounces (25th perncentile)

Evie TALKS. ALL. THE. TIME. We love it. She puts words together to make simple sentences like, "Mommy have that." or "Wilson hush." or "Love you, mommy." She is so inquisitive. She soaks in everything she sees and hears. It only takes two or three repetitions before Evie has learned a new word or discovered how to accomplish a new task. We've learned that Evie learns through listening to mommy and daddy talk, doing new activities with us, by reading, and watching t.v. I would say she learns the most by doing and reading books.

She has even taken interest in learning her numbers, shapes, colors, and letters! I attribute this to her going to school 5 days a week.

Here are some random quotes/ things from recent.
In a target shopping cart, she points to the cart and says, "red."
At check out she pointed to huge number five and said, "five."
She counts out loud (out of order) using her favorite numbers, 6, 7, and 9.
Recognizes numbers 1 through 9 printed on paper.
When she sees ten, she says, "one- circle."
Recognizes the letters A and B.
Points out numbers and letters she recognizes on signs and tv.
Asks to pray at the dinner table by folding her hands and saying "Jesus" or "amen"
She can peel off the lid of a yogurt containter.
She begs for chocolate milk everyday.
She named a toy dog, "Isaac," after Grandma Deb's dog.
She talks about her grandparents and cousin Luca.
Enjoys coloring with crayons.
Asked her teacher if she could have a cupcake for lunch.
Tries to steal her friend's snack at school (marshmallows).
When leaving school, she says, "bye, see ya later, love you" to her teachers.
Puts herself to sleep by reading books.
Gives us a kiss and then says, "hug", and hugs us.
Pretends to use the potty.
Feeds Wilson his dog food.
Pretends to cook and drink coffee.
Calls birthdays "happy cakes"
Loves watching Elmo, Yo Gabba Gabba, and Mickey Mouse Clubhouse
Sings songs like "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star" in the car.

Those are some of the everyday things that we love and enjoy about our EVIE!

School!

I am starting my 9th year of teaching! It seems like yesterday I was a jittery first year teacher.

It was a Good Summer!

Well, summer is really over! I go back to work tomorrow, and Evie goes back to school.

Here's what we've been up to lately.  Our last moments of summer fun!

For her birthday, Evie got a doll she can color and wash.

She also thought she could color Raggedy Ann.

 She got a package from Aunt Charlie. It was so fun to open!

We had some friends over to swim and play.
