Play Day with Asher

Saturday we babysat Asher when his mom worked at a dance competition and his dad rested from a rough week of chemo. Evie and Asher are four months apart and the age difference has finally closed in. This was the first time they actually played and interacted together. When one started playing with one toy, the other wanted it too. They did a pretty good job of sharing with a couple of "mine" outbursts. Same went for snacks, when Evie saw Asher eat a banana, she wanted one too! We only had one instance of timeout....and that was because Evie threw a sippy cup at the dog. Evie put Asher in line one time by waving her index finger signaling no, no, no, no! Whatever she gibber jabbered, put Asher in line real quick. For lunch we went to Chick-fil-a, and the cashier asked me if I had twins! After lunch, Evie was worn out and napped from 12-4! Asher stayed awake and played until his dad picked him at 1:00. It was fun, but I was so tired when Asher left, I took a nap! I'm so glad Judd was home to help me. It's a lot of work to take care of two busy toddlers!

SNOW Day Part 4

We woke up to a beautiful blanket of soft, fluffy snow. Judd still went to work, which he realized was a mistake because the roads were still a mess. Fresh snow with ice underneath is not a good combination! When Judd arrived at work, he learned that one of his coworkers spent the night at the office because he was stranded! He couldn't get his car out of the parking lot. Because of that, Judd only worked until lunch. He finished the rest of the day working from home.

Here are some pictures I took with Evie. Since I was alone, I took out the little camera. It's a good thing because I ended up slipping and falling on some hidden ice. I happen to be holding Evie at the same time. We were both fine, but that could have been a bad thing if I had the big camera with us! Overall, Evie was very interested in the snow and had a really good time. She didn't even mind when she fell down. She got right back up!

SNOW (ICE) DAY Part 3

Since the ice has not thawed at all, there's still NO school! It is canceled through Friday, because more snow is expected over night. We should finally warm up this weekend. The forecast predicts 50 degree temps!
Evie and I took it low key today. First thing in the morning she wanted to color, in fact, she nibbled on her breakfast. She was ready to play! Since I had all day on my hands, I decided to use my bread machine. I ended up making French Baguettes. The recipe called for very few ingredients. I think they turned out pretty good considering it was my first time, and I never have any luck with yeast breads. Once Judd got home, we went out for a quick burger at Mooyah. It was really nice to get out of the house. Evie has thrilled too! The roads are still a mess. Once we got home from dinner, Evie immediately went to the stairs and said, "nigh nigh." Some nights she's so tired she insists on going to bed. After a quick bath and snuggle with daddy, she did go to bed. What to do tomorrow?

Snow Day Part 2

We woke up this morning to Judd's blasting alarm clock at 6:45 to realize that we did not have power. I instantly got worried about having to spend the day without power when it feels like 0 degrees outside. On Twitter I found that a friend was out of power as well. While Judd took a shower, in candle light, I called the power company to hear a recording explain they were doing 15 minute rolling blackouts to conserve energy. Sure enough, at 7:00, the power returned. We had a total of 5 blackouts today. It really wasn't that bad. I'm thankful to be comfortable in this cold weather, because I know there are many in the Dallas area who are not as fortunate as me.

This morning I was determined to have a great snow day with Evie. It is very unexpected that I ever get to spend a work day off with Evie, so I soaked up every second! I texted a friend, who had just moved to Wisconsin for some snow day activities. She had great ideas, and we tried most of them. Here they are:
