Eleven Months

Our sweet baby sister is almost ONE! This is technically the "eleven month" post. She is turning into a little toddler. She eats three meals a day. When we say, time to eat, she scoots to her booster seat. We are pretty sure she can say, "No". She says this when we try to give her a sippy cup and she doesn't want anything to drink, she'll say, "no" and push the cup away. She is getting walking down. Sometimes she will walk up to two or three feet across a room. Although, her preferred method is to walk on her knees. She gets around quite well this way. As far as sleeping goes, she takes at least one long nap and maybe a short one later in the afternoon. She likes to sleep in her swing. Over the summer I will try to get her to sleep in the crib. She has not slept through the night yet. I have talked to some friends, and to my relief, some of their kids didm't sleep through the night either. I look forward to that day when she sleeps from 7pm to 7am! Despite her finicky sleep habits, we love her to pieces! She is so fun, and we love her persistence and determination!

He Has Risen

Today was Easter Sunday and that means so many things. It's the reminder that our life will not face death. With the cross, we have life everlasting. As I sat and reflected on what my pastor was preaching about eternal life, I thought about my mom's dear friend who has a short time left on this Earth as she is battling the end stages of ovarian cancer. She has fought the good fight for MANY years. She is such a strong Godly woman. She has shown such faith and strength in knowing that her pain will end when she can be with Jesus. She has battled her illness with bravery and positive thinking. It doesn't seem possible to do that without the Lord. My mom's friend is so ill at this point. Her body is failing. The tumor is the size of a basketball, and knowing that she will be ALIVE again and healthy in heaven brings such joy to my heart. It is comforting to know that her time of rest and health is coming soon.

Another thought that came to mind as I listened to the sermon was that Easter is the anniversary of our second pregnancy. It was such a celebration to discover a new life was in our lives on the very holiday we celebrate the new life we have in Jesus. Sadly, our sweet baby did not develop past the 6th week. In that loss, we were shown the beauty of life and the renewal of life with the sweet gift of Katy. I don't actually broadcast this but, Katy was born one year and a week after the anniversary of our loss of our second pregnancy. AND Katy was born a DAY before Mother's Day. This year her birthday is on Mother's Day. As a mother, I can't think of anything more special than celebrating my baby's birth on Mother's Day! She is a reminder of the beauty of life.

That through loss we also experience life.

Egg Hunts and Easter

We went to our church's annual egg hunt. They had a show with a juggler/ magician guy, and then the Egg Scramble! Evie had a great time! Katy started to come down with a cold that day. She was running a fever and slept through the whole thing pretty much. Poor baby is still under the weather.

On Easter Sunday, Judd and I tagged teamed during the day. I took Evie to church while Judd stayed home with Katy. Then I came home, so Judd could take Evie to eat Sunday lunch at Gwen's house with our parents and our friends. I took Katy to Acute Kids Care to make sure she didn't have anything too serious. She had been running a fever for over 24 hours and was very congested and miserable. She cried the majority of the night. She just has a virus, so all we can do is keep her hydrated and comfortable. We have done a lot of cuddling!

Spring

It is the time of year when so many things come alive again! The weather warms up and the rain comes to wake up the trees and flowers. Pollen fills the air and my lungs! Bluebonnets pop out of the ground on the roadside and flocks of people come to capture their annual picture with the state flowers. Every day I drive by a field of flowers, so when the weather was warm and the skies were clear my mom and I took the kids to snap some pictures. It was tricky! The sun was very bright and Evie was not the most cooperative model. Katy did a much better job at "posing" for the camera! My friend Ryan, who lives in Ireland, edited a couple of photos for me. The ones he did are the first five.
