6 Things I Love about My 6 Week Old

1. She's starting to make efforts to smile. It melts my heart!

2. Ceiling fans fascinate her.

3. Every morning when she gets dressed, she stares into the mirror.

4. Big girl is starting to sleep through the night!

5. She's a great eater.

6. She recognizes Mommy and Daddy in a crowded room.

A "Berry" Fun Birthday Party

Today Evie, Judd, and I were guests at little Macie's first birthday. I teach fourth grade with her mother, Kendra, and fondly remember excitedly awaiting the announcement of Macie's arrival last year. The theme of the party was Strawberry Shortcake. Kendra did a great job of making everything "berry" strawberry and red. Macie even had the cutest outfit! We arrived at the party immediately after feeding Evie, so for about 30 minutes Evie was quite alert and then fell fast asleep. It was a big day for Evie... her first party, and a big day for Macie...her first birthday!

A Day of Visitors

We had quite a busy day of visitors this past Wednesday. It started with company from Asher and Rachel Knight. I can't believe how big Asher is getting. He's 5 months old and so curious! He loves to reach for everything and stand by using tables or chairs for balance. Asher was so excited to see Evie. He couldn't wait to touch her. He also eagerly greeted Wilson, even grabbed a hold of Wilson's ear and beard. Luckily, Wilson just let out a little squeal and didn't hurt Asher for grabbing him.

Later that afternoon my friend and coworker, Joanna and her son Pierce, dropped by with dinner. Pierce is 10 months old and crawled all over the house! He was quite the busy body, reaching for remote controls and magazines on the coffee table. I guess I got a preview of how I will need to baby proof the living room!

First Night in the Crib

Evie has been sleeping in her bassinet Pack n' Play in our bedroom since she came home. Recently, I've become very anxious to have her sleep in her crib upstairs, but was hesitant because it was UPSTAIRS and our bedroom is downstairs. Well, last night we gave it a try. We hooked up the camera monitor above her crib, and at 8:00 put her down in her crib for the first time. It went very well. Evie fell asleep in about 15 minutes with minimal fussing. Judd and I kept an eye on her with the awesome night vision monitor we have. At quarter to eleven, I woke up Evie for one last feeding of the night, and she feel asleep again with minimal fussing. She slept very soundly until 3:00 am and 6:30 am when she woke for feedings. I would say it was a great success! Yay, we have our bedroom back and YAY, Evie is sleeping in her nursery!!!!!!

Kendra and Miss Macie

Friday after school, my 4th grade teacher friend, Kendra, brought dinner and came for a visit with her almost one year old daughter, Macie. Oh boy, was it fun catching up with Kendra and talking all about our babies. We were kept quite busy because little Miss Macie was a very active explorer! She wanted to explore everything from Wilson, to his dog toys, to the stairs, to the back door, to the remote controls, and of course baby Evie! We are very excited because next weekend, Evie and I get to go to Macie's one year birthday party! It will be Evie's first time as a party guest. Maybe she will be awake for part of it!

Happy One Month Sweet Girl!

Thanks to a friend, Kendra, I had the idea of baking a one month birthday cake for Evie. As you can tell I am NOT a cake decorator, but it's the thought that counts! I need to invest in some simple decorating tools.

Grandma Deb

Judd's mom, Grandma Deb, spent a week visiting with us and getting to know Evie. We had lots of fun and watched SO many chic flicks. Poor Judd was ready to pull his hair out. He's ready for an action and adventure movie for sure.

4 Weeks Old

Wow! I can't believe we brought Evie home 4 weeks ago! She is changing so much everyday. Recently, she started to focus and follow slowly moving objects with her eyes. This morning she turned her head towards Wilson when he barked! I can't wait for the day to see her smile! Evie is a pretty good sleeper. At night she goes down around 8pm and wakes again around 12:00am, 3:00am, and 6:30am. Her alert wake time is from 6:30 to 9:30 or so. Then she takes a long afternoon nap of around 5 hours! Throughout the day she'll have short fussy spells.
