We were so lucky to have been able to spend a long weekend at Costello Island on Possum Kingdom Lake. It was a spur of the moment trip, with one day notice. We made it work, since we haven't been able to go for the past two years. Our friends Reagan and Ashley invited us to spend the weekend. Their friends, the Budd's, own the house and are generous enough to share with others for FREE. Four families plus two black labs ended up staying at the house, which sleeps about 14 people comfortably (everyone with a bed). We had a total of 2 babies Mason and Jacob (4 months and 9 months), Evie (almost two), Stella (almost four), and Parker (almost 6). The kids really liked having so many adults around. If they needed anything, there was an adult nearby to help them!
There aren't any cars on the island, golf carts only! The island has five houses, a landing strip for planes, golf cart paths, and free roaming horses that are somewhat tame for experienced horse riders. The majority of the island is left wild and has a couple "tame" stray dogs that survive off of scraps from the vacationers staying at the houses. A nice island golden retriever kept us company and begged for scraps.

SATURDAY

A sudden fine minute hail storm blew through and crashed the neighbor's sailboat into the dock!
All the guys ran out (in the storm) to help rescue the boat.
We didn't have power for about an hour after the storm.
SUNDAY
Evie REALLY loved playing in the water. She became a little too daring and independent. She insisted that we let her walk as far as she could reach without our help. Then when she lost balance, she instantly wanted our help to get her out of the water. The entire time she wore a life jacket, but she wasn't very skilled in keeping her face out of the water. We were always within in arms reach of her!
