Tupperware

Monday night when I was cooking dinner and making lunches, Evie entertained herself by pulling out all of the tupperware from the cabinet. I rarely let empty the entire cabinet, but tonight I decided I didn't really care. Her latest interest is building towers, so that's what she did!

New Bike

On Evie's birthday, one of her friend's gave her a little trike bike which has been in the closet for a while. Our little one year old neighbor Chase, was playing with his new trike after Christmas. Evie really liked riding his, so we decided to put her bike together. At first sight, Evie was terrified of it! To convince her to try it, Judd kept pointing to the picture on the box of a little girl riding the bike. Eventually, Evie believed that it would be fun and tried riding it! She couldn't reach the pedals yet, so she walked herself around on it.

Our Little Artist

For Christmas, Evie got her first set of art supplies including finger paints, crayons, paint pens, and construction paper. When I pulled out the finger paints for Evie to try, she instantly go so excited! She starting pressing the palm of her hand flat on the table. She makes lots of handprints at school with finger paints, so she was ready to do the same here. She knew exactly what to do. I let her make one of her own pictures, and then I "helped" her make a hand print Christmas tree.

Evie's Words

Lately, Evie has started to pick up new words really fast! In the past week, she has started to say "night night" and "please."

Here's what she can say (in no particular order):

ball (first word)
bye bye
baby
daddy/ da da
night night (nigh nigh)
please (psst)
hi (she says hi to the dog, people at the grocery store, and passing cars)
shoe
mommy
dog (daw)
meow
bow wow wow

2010 Jingle Bell Run

Back in September, I decided that I would start running, because I wasn't making it to the gym on a regular basis. Running intrigued me because I ALWAYS hated it. The only time I ever ran was in high school PE class during summer school in hot, muggy Florida. It was misery. Anyway, I decided to run because I heard of a 5K training program that only required one to exercise three times a week for 30 minutes. Surely, I thought I could fit that into my schedule, and I did. After eight weeks of training, I comfortably ran 5 kilometers/ 3.1 miles at the Dallas Jingle Bell Run. They closed down streets in the arts district. There were lots of crazy people dressed up like Santa, elves, and reindeer.  Since it was so crowded, I ran to finish the race, not to run fast. I finished in 38 minutes, which is NOTHING to brag about. :o)
