Kate's Baptism

We had a special Sunday where we celebrated Kate's baptism. Timing was a little off, and Kate happened to be very hungry when it was time for us to go up. She cried the entire time, poor thing! My parents became members of the church, too! It was a sweet, sweet day.

Today Katy and I had some time together while sister was napping. We were just staring into each others' eyes, and I was talking baby talk to her. Then all of a sudden she got the biggest grin on her face. She kept smiling off and on for about 5 minutes. It was the first time she definitely smiled for me. I can't wait to share many more smiles with this cutie pie!

Baby Sling

Kate suffers from the "witching hour" during the evening from 5pm to 10pm. I rock her, sing to her, shush her, nurse her, jiggle her, swaddle her (repeat every hour)... and the list could go on and on. The other day my friend told me that her baby loved being in a baby sling. I had one of those packed away from when Evie was a baby. I never used the thing or even tried it with Evie. The pacifier worked magic on Evie, so I just stuck with it and never tried anything else. Kate, however, is a little more challenging to get settled down for the evening. Desperate for ANYTHING to work, I found that sling and tried it out, and to my excitement, Kate LOVES it! Within about 10 minutes of being in it she fell asleep! I cooked dinner & ate dinner, folded laundry, played with Evie all while she was snoozing away! The other day Evie and I went on a walk to check the mail and ran into some neighbors. Evie played with her friend Chase for about 45 minutes all while Kate was sleeping in the sling! Kate rested in the sling when we walked around the Arboretum. Success. I am so relieved to get some relief from cranky time!

Dallas Arboretum's Alice in Wonderland

Friday morning Evie, Kate, and I loaded up the car at 8:45am and headed to east Dallas to meet our friends at the Dallas Arboretum to see their Alice in Wonderland. Getting out the door this early with both kids and with makeup on was a huge accomplishment! Groupon had a special summer deal, so we jumped at the opportunity to visit. The girls loved the Alice in Wonderland village. There was a pioneer village where they had a teepee, log houses, and a small corn crop! The two had a blast pretending to be pioneers. They played "house" in the log cabin giving each other orders to do the laundry or to check on the kettle in the fire place. It was really adorable to watch them. By noon, Kate had had enough. I took Evie and her friend home with me. The two had even more fun tearing through all of Evie's toys (and some of Kate's). It was really a great day- a great way to start off summer.

Training Wheels

Evie's tricycle was on its last wheels, so we decided it was time to move on up to a bike! Judd took Evie on a special shopping trip, and she picked out her very first bike. It's pink, of course, along with her bike helmet and Hello Kitty pads.

One Month

Today Katy is one month old! Judd and Evie have caught glimpses of her smiling! She has become a lot more alert lately, with the longest wake time first thing in the morning for about one hour around 9am. She has adjusted herself to mostly three hours between feedings. As the day gets later, she tends to go about one and a half to two hours. She settles down for the night around 8pm. Her last feeding is at 10pm, and she wakes up around 2am and 5/ 6am and goes back to sleep until about 8 or 9am.
